Shirley Clarke is an internationally recognised author and CPD provider,
having previously been a teacher, adviser, test developer and lecturer at the
Institute of Education, University of London. She was awarded an honorary
doctorate from the University of Greenwich in 2007.
Shirley’s passion is formative assessment because it encapsulates what is
most important in education: empowering children to become confident learners
who know how to learn. She is known for the practical application of the
principles of formative assessment, developed through her work with her action
research learning teams, 4 groups of 30 teachers who trial ideas and develop
their expertise.
