Dr Barry Hymer is an experienced educator and chartered psychologist with a background in primary and secondary school teaching and educational psychology. He continues to teach on a regular basis as well as working with teachers, TAs and other educators. |
| Barry's specialist areas of interest include thinking skills and gifted education. His latest books are The Gifted & Talented Pocketbook, Dilemma Based Learning in the Humanities, The Routledge International Companion to Gifted Education, and Gifts, Talents and Education: A Living Theory Approach. |
| Barry was the recipient of the 2003 ICPIC (International Council for Philosophical Inquiry with Children) Award for Interpreting Philosophy with Children. He is a visiting fellow at Newcastle University's Centre for Learning & Teaching and has a longstanding interest in exploring the classroom implications of Prof Dweck's theory of mindsets. He loves to spend his free time relaxing with his family and poultry in the Yorkshire Dales. | |
